My early appreciation of American and Natural Histories, as well as curiosity about our early society inspired me to start Back Road Tours. This appreciation was heightened by boyhood trips through our National Parks, and camping and boating trips around New England.
My passion for history and adventure spurred me to purchase several exotic vehicles designed to travel the kinds of back roads that are off limits to more conventional vehicles. These included a 1945 amphibious DUKW (duck) from World War II, a hover craft, and several older four wheel drive vehicles and Land Rovers.
Our 1962 Mercedes Benz UniMog, once a Swiss NATO vehicle holds up to eight people, is fuel efficient and can go virtually anywhere. Thanks to its rugged versatility Back Road Tours is now Back Road Safari.
